Wow time flies when you're raising a homeschooling family! The boys are growing faster then I can type and Nathaniel is using me for a leaning post these days. He is quite impressed with himself that he is taller then his parents at this point = ) Our baby Keegan just turned 13 making us the official parents of 2 TEENAGERS!
Charles has been blessed with work this past month and the real paychecks have been nice. He's building a couple of bridges over in Grubville with the same company he helped build the bridge in Sullivan last year. He's fighting a sinus cold at the moment but other then that he's doing great.
Ed's doing well also, he and his friend Dot have a set date every week at Cracker Barrel that gets him out of the house for a bit. Ed has even started coming to church!!!! Yes you read that right! The boys kept gently asking every week and at first he would make excuses until one week he said yes and he's been coming ever since. Don't tell me God isn't amazing! That should give every person out there who's praying for an unbeliever HOPE!
Nathaniel's finally made his case to his Dad about switching from piano to guitar, and will be starting guitar lessons with the talented lady who leads worship at our church. He got his guitar book in the mail today and got a jump start on practicing.
Keegan just had his 13th birthday and got some really great gifts. He was so thoroughly impressed by a Christian ventriloquist named Taylor Mason from the "Thou Shalt Laugh" DVDs that he wanted a ventriloquist's puppet. His grandparents got one for him and it goes everywhere with us now! He got $$$ from everyone else. We got him a laptop. By the time I took all their stuff off my computer for school and put it on theirs, I had half my computers memory back! He's still taking piano and has hinted he may want to try his hand at the Bass guitar or violin, we'll see.
Both are doing well in their studies... doing math way over my head, all I can do is use the teachers key to correct and grade it. We're still doing our homeschool co-op class on Mondays for Science and History and the labs have been really fun in a group setting. We may add art this summer. We haven't been EC dancing lately but we've been to homeschool skating and a bunch of fellowships. They should be starting martial arts again in May if all goes well. We still clean our church weekly and do our monthly health food co-op too.
They have taken our Sunday teachers "Don't be a Word weenie" challenge in our adult class and have been memorizing scripture to share every week. Is there a greater blessing as a parent then to see your children hiding God's word in their hearts! Keegan would like to do a puppet ministry for the younger children when he get's a skit worked out.
I am longing for more time actually at home... and have been trying to reschedule my week to accomadate that. I got into a HUGE project this week switching shelves out and EVERYTHING that was on them... my house looks like a bomb went off in it! Hopefully I will be able to pull it together before our homeschool class on Monday. The good thing is that it made me want to go through everything and purge the unused/unwanted STUFF from our house.
We were struggling with what to do with our growing mountain of STUFF since we don't have a good "yardsale sight" when we got an inspired idea from God to have a "benefit yardsale" on our churches parking lot with all of the proceeds to go to a couple we know. Rachel is only 26 and been married to Terry (our friends son) for 2 years. Shortly after they got married they found out she was facing cancer in her lymph glands. She's really taken a turn for the worse this last month and he has taken leave from his job to care for her. We figured they could certainly use the money raised for bills. We have other people who are volunterring to join us now for this and to also add a bake sale! We are so excited knowing we will be able to bless them.
Other projects going on at our home are container gardening one last year until we get our real garden ready this Fall for next year and we have 25 Barred Rock pullets coming at the end of the month... anyone want to make or donate an incubator for us???? The price of chicks really shot up since last year, they went from $1.70 each to $2.50 each! I really hope to lay hold of an incubator before next Spring and hatch my own. We just don't have an broody hens!
The rest of the critters... 3 dogs, 14 hens, 1 rooster, 2 corn snakes, 2 kitties, a tank full of fish w/ 1 turtle and our 1 tarantula (Charlotte) are doing well. The 3 breeder mice are going bye-bye since they didn't do what they were bought for... to make snake food! We ended up buying pinkies (baby mice) online much cheaper and without the headaches. Depending on which freezer you delve into at my house you may find a tupperware container of pinkies or a frozen snake for a future disection class = )
Ahhhhhh... the life of a homeschooling family! We are sooooooooooooooooo BLESSED! God is so good to our family and we see his blessings all around us. Even in the darkest hours of our lives we feel His presence, always there.. always reminding us that He is in control and has us covered. We have so very much to be thankful for, each and everyday. Thank you Jesus everday that my eyes were opened and my heart unveiled.
Well tomorrow is a VERY early moring for us to go clean and then we have music lessons. I still have my house in a wreck and need to get home to attend to that. So good night... and God bless!

Deuteronomy 6:7 "And you shall teach them diligently unto your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up."
