Crayon therapy... who knew!?

What is crayon therapy you may ask?...... well it's what I've discovered now that Farmer's market is over, canning projects are caught up, and the house is finally "housing" all the people in it, thanks to months of organizing. One morning while sitting at the table coloring with the twins, they just started to talk about their life before us, their life with "mean mom" as they call her. I sat quietly coloring my picture just listening, and the longer they had my quiet but attentive attention, the more they began to talk. They were safe, and their converstion showed they were very comfortable as they started to relate things they'd been through. Some fears they still had (mean mom coming to snatch them), but mostly what they've been through and how they felt about those things. I learned a lot, a lot of it was hard to hear... but most of all I assured them that they were safe & loved. That the past was over and their future was bright. We'll have many more hours of "crayon therapy" I'm sure, but most of all I'm thankful for the Lord pointing out yet again, that it's when I get quiet and let Him work that the real work gets done.
