I know what most of you are thinking, and all I can say is it's a German thing. We made our annual trip into St. Louis for my once a year Christmas treat... Anise cookies! My hubby is so good to me = ) McArthur's Bakery always has them this time of year, you can't find them out in the sticks where we live. This year however they were still expensive as all get out but they also had less in the container!!! Waaaaaaaaaaaah!!! I'm finally fed up enough to figure out how to bake my own! So today I played with a recipe that was not as soft and pretty as the McArthur ones but for what their charging they'll work. There are some other involved recipes that I will mess with later but this one will work for now. Christmas is twelve days away and I am completely unmotivated about baking... sigh... I know I have to dig deep and get started soon though. Especially since that IS our gift giving this year. There's so much to do the next week or so and I just want to stay home and quietly let the time slip by with my family sipping hot tea and crunching on my new found Anise cookie recipe. I found a neat piece on the internet while looking for a grape jelly recipe, here it is.....
