The Guys!

The Onondaga Cave tour and bat program that our family hosted for the homeschool group was a huge hit! We had a group of about 60 adults and children and all the children were so well behaved! It was our first time through the cave and it was HUGE! We saw so many awesome sights that we killed the battery in our digital camera trying to shoot them all. The Staff at Onondaga were very nice and we learned a lot about the cave, it's history and the animals that use and live in the cave. We saw tiny brown bats (more like mice with wings!). After our hour and a half tour of the cave we had a picnic lunch at the visitor center then re-assembled for the Bat program where we learned all about bats that live in Missouri and all over the world. Did you know a bat's feet are upside down when in an upright position? God designed them that way for hanging upside down! The cave closes October 31st for their hibernation season so we were glad to go before hand. We are looking foward to a "geology" and "habitats" program in the Spring.
