It's hard to believe it's mid August already. We've had some of our hottest temps ever in Missouri. It was 106* yesterday! Weather like this is not fit for anything but being a hermit! We've lost 8 hens this month despite our best efforts to keep them supplied with cool water and a fan. Our 3 pups are hanging in there with multiple water changes and their puppy pool filled. I can't wait for Autumn to roll in and cool things off. We've had my 12 yr. old niece out for the summer and her visit is just about over. We'll be taking her back into the "big city" soon to be reunited with her parents just in time to start the 7th grade. It's been really nice having a girl in the house besides me. The first thing she asked when she came out 6 weeks ago was "please teach me to cook" so we've been cooking and baking up a storm.
